A is for art

A is for Art is an annual fundraiser held to celebrate the long history and legacy of Shady Lane School. This long-standing event helps to provide scholarships to a diverse group of families all while supporting educator retention.

Our community loves an old school event and nothing says ol’ school more than a 90s party complete with good music and food, a silent auction, and raffles. This year’s event will be an adults-only (21+) night out at The Art Room on September 15 from 1 – 4:00 p.m. Ya dig?

Founded in 1966, Shady Lane School provides early childhood education to children ages six weeks through kindergarten entry year-round.

Our historical early childhood environment holds roots to local legends Phil Hallen and Fred Rogers as well as many leading contemporaries in the Pittsburgh community, philanthropy, and early childhood space.

Shady Lane School is an inclusive school that seeks to address the full range of barriers to a high-quality early childhood education, including race, poverty, culture, religion, physical and cognitive ability, family composition, and language among others.

DS Kinsel, Co-Founder of BOOM Concepts, reads to a classroom of Shady Lane School students as part of Black Power Story Time—one of three key collaborative programs led by local teaching artists, Anqwenique and DS Kinsel.
